The Uzbek women get together in the long winter nights and produce hand embroidered panels decorated, more often than not, with sun disc motifs, and occasionally the pomegranate garden. These panels are then stitched together to create enormous wall hangings called suzanis. The word suzani comes from the Farsi/Dari word meaning needle. So suzani means made with a needle.
Nomad Style has a large selection of suzanis from Afghanistan and Uzbekistan. In addition, we carry decorative, hand made, and hand embroidered, panels from Punjab, Gujaraat, Sindh, Laos, Thailand, and Guatemala.
